    About Us

Project SAFER is a non-profit organization funded by the Ventura County Behavioral Health Department to assess special events within Ventura County regarding issues of health, safety, security and alcohol service.

The work of Project SAFER was inspired by the LGBT Coalition which demonstrated that a concerted effort on behalf of community members can shape the environment of a special event.

Project SAFER helps to identify environmental factors in some problematic settings that are not typically the focus of regulation or enforcement activities. Some specific areas include underage access to and over-service of alcohol.

Each year, events in cities all over Ventura County are assessed and the results of the assessments are used to help event organizers, law enforcement and municipalities create policies and conditions to reduce liabilities and risks at special events, while keeping the events fun and profitable.
